Congratulations to our Lions Friends: Harald Hölder, Elisabeth Sommer, Suzanne von der Ster and Günther Kopperger.
Swim for Life is a fund-raising initiative aiming at raising as much money as possible to help and meet the huge challenges of quickly integrating the thousands of refugees who have arrived and are now living in the Munich area, as well as those – not so fortunate – at the borders of Europe. Mrs. Louise Holland, Board member of the Bavarian International School e.V. organized the Munich event on September 10th, 2016 and led it to a huge success.
The challenge was to swim – with a team of 4 – as many lengths as possible within one hour. Sponsors could support their team by donating online.
30 relay teams, 91.5 km, €12,000 donations
30 relay teams, including international school communities in Munich, family teams and Lions München Multinational plunged into the swimming pool at the HVB Club facilities near the English Garden, collectively swam 91.5 km (3,662 lengths) and set the benchmark for other cities, should they accept the challenge set by the Munich event!
The team of Lions München Multinational has contributed very successfully to this result by completing 2.8 km within an hour and has raised €545 donations.
In total, donations over €12,000 – plus corporate sponsorships – have been granted to Action for Refugees in Munich, Münchener Freiwillige-Wir helfen e.V. as well to FlÜB&S’ education project for refugees, that Lions München Mutinational supports actively along the year.
